Autonomous ships in the age of a pandemic

According to attorney Mateusz Romowicz, it is necessary to create a single and comprehensive act that would regulate, among other things, autonomous ship definitions, levels of its autonomy, legal status of an autonomous ship operator in charge of a shore-based vessel, responsibilities of autonomous ships and their owners or operators, and responsibilities in the event of maritime accidents / damage involving autonomous ships. Work on such a legal act requires multidisciplinary cooperation, which is why the Autonomous Ships Initiative Group (GISA) was established at the Polish Maritime Technology Forum.
