The CEO of PMTF was invited by the organizers to moderate the panel entitled “Is it possible to rebuild large shipyards? Or will they remain only a symbol of social change.” At the beginning, he presented the situation of the shipbuilding industry in Poland based on the data of the Central Statistical Office and the National Court Register. During the discussion, a SWOT analysis of the reconstruction of large shipyards was carried out, including the definition of the term “large shipyard”, product scope, purpose of rebuilding large shipyards, potential sources of financing. The summary presents a simplified calculation of the construction of an example unit, a 2700 TEU container ship. The calculations showed that large shipyards would remain only a symbol of social changes.
